Texas Rangers to play 3 exhibition games in Alamodome

Jim Lochhead / San Antonio Business Journal

The Alamodome in San Antonio reportedly will host up to three Texas Rangers preseason games.

The Texas Rangers will play three exhibition games in the Alamodome in San Antonio before the 2013 season, an opportunity for the Arlington-based to expand its Texas fan base.

ESPNDallas.com reported that the Reid Ryan, CEO of the Triple-A Round Rock team, said the plan was for the Rangers to play in the Alamodome, but that details would come in the future.

Ryan is the son of Rangers CEO and President Nolan Ryan.

ESPN said it would be the first time a Major League game would be played in a structure that wasn't originally designed with baseball in mind.

The Alamodome is the home of the University of Texas at San Antonio football games, high school football and the University Interscholastic League's Marching Band Contests.
