Difference between special ed k-12 and early childhood

If someone is certified as an intervention specialist for k-12, would they be less likely to receive a job in grades k-3 than someone who specialized in early childhood special education? The reason that I ask is because I am seeking a teaching license and masters in special educaiton and believe I would like to teach the younger grades, although I think it would be nice to have k-12 to leave my options open if I decide Id like to teach older children as well. However, I wondered if schools would view me as less qualified than those with an early childhood degree.

Certain universities have specific programs in EC, but it really all depends on what yours offers. If you get a general special education degree, you will not be shunned from these positions, but then again, it depends on what is needed in that school system. You could always just take the classes for EC specialization and if you decide to change, go back and take the others. Good luck.
